Workshop Protocol Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the published workshop start time to register for the workshop. SCRID has implemented a new procedure for registering. If you have pre-registered for the workshop, you will be emailed an attachment in PDF format. This file will contain your E-Ticket. It is important that when you print this E-Ticket that you keep it on one page. The barcode will not work if printed on two pages. When registering, please supply the PDC Chair with your email address. If you do not have an email address, please inform the PDC Chair. Other arrangements will be made for you. Please have a picture ID to show the PDC Chair before check-in. Individuals who arrive 30 minutes after the published start time will receive neither CEUs nor a Certificate of Attendance. No partial CEUs will be awarded. Some workshops span more than one day. Check the flyer carefully to see if CEUs are given for the full time or given for each day. Any monies mailed after the post-marked date will be at the next higher rate, regardless of SCRID membership. SCRID cannot guarantee admissions into the workshop if the participant arrives at-the-door (see above note*). In the workshop schedule above you will notice the column called "Available Space". The following terms are explained: · Open means we still have space for people to register. · Closed means we are full and will not be taking any more registrations. However, if you mailed one in, you will be placed on the waiting list and notified only if a space opens up for you. · Canceled means there was low enrollment and the workshop had to be canceled. Before heading out to the workshop, always double check the flyer to see if any last minute changes were made. With so many people registering, it is difficult to contact all who are registered. This will be your responsibility. Each flyer will try to have a link to the facility's map to help you locate the building and/or room. If you are uncertain about the area, the facility's host/ess email address will be also on the flyer for you to contact for assistance with the location. SCRID Presents: "The Green Series" Workshops SCRID has decided to implement a concept that has been going on with our sister chapter – San Diego County RID. They have begun a workshop series called “The Green Series”. The presenter will present a workshop pro bono. The presenter pays for all of his/her own expenses. SCRID will assist in locating a facility, providing CEUs and pay for the copying of handouts. The benefits will be passed onto the participants by reducing the cost of admissions. The objective is to give new presenters an opportunity to practice or to give experienced presenters an opportunity to try out a new topic. If you have a topic or know of a presenter with a topic, please have them contact the PDC Co-Chair – Kathleen Lanker at MKLanker@sbcglobal.net or Michael Morefield at ItsGreenMe@aol.com.
Student Interpreter Observation The SCRID PDC (Professional Development Committee Chairperson) has implemented a procedure for student interpreters who want or need to observe working interpreters at our workshops. SCRID has developed a protocol for the students to follow. SCRID works on a first request will be able to attend. A student cannot do a second workshop if there is a waiting list of other students who have not yet attended. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact the PDC: SCRID Professional Development Committee Address: PO Box 9723, West Hills, CA 91309 SCRID Professional Development Committee Email address: MKLanker@sbcglobal.net or ItsGreenMe@aol.com
