    PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE CHAIR JOB DESCRIPTION

    Reports To: SCRID Executive Board
    Status: Volunteer

    POSITION PURPOSE
    Supervise all aspects of professional development events, workshops and functions hosted by SCRID.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Plan, prepare and coordinate at least 4 professional development events per fiscal year
    • Recruit and coordinate a committee to assist in hosting events
    • Maintain constructive relationships with professional partners in the community
    • Prepare and maintain paper work required by RID, SCRID and other organizations
    • Work within the budget provided by the SCRID board
    • Check SCRID email a minimum of once per week
    • Submit a monthly report which includes budget usage updates
    • Submit an annual report for the annual membership meeting
    • Attend 75% of all board meetings
    • Manage the PDC budget

    • Interpreting experience preferred;  graduate of an ITP/IPP;

    The Student Representative Committee’s goals:
    • Establish a network between local Interpreter Training Programs (ITP's) and SCRID.
    • Keep ITP students engaged in SCRID activities and aware of changes in the interpreting field affecting them and their future career.
    • Provide an opportunity for students to inform SCRID about their ITP's and sharing their knowledge throughout their time in training.

    CERTIFICATION MAINTENANCE PROGRAM CHAIR (CMP) JOB DESCRIPTION

    Reports To: SCRID Executive Board
    Status: Volunteer

    POSITION PURPOSE
    To endorse and ensure the quality of educational activities offered for CEUs.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Requests for CEU sponsorship must be reviewed to ensure they meet the RID requirements stated in the RID Certification Maintenance Program Standards and Criteria for Approved Sponsors.
    • Adhering to the RID deadlines, sponsorship information must also be submitted to RID.
    • SCRID sponsors the following activities for CEUs: Workshops, Participant Initiated Non-RID Activities (PINRA), Independent Studies and Academic Coursework.
    • Process and review requests for CEU sponsorship while adhering to the RID Certification Maintenance Program Standards and Criteria for Approved Sponsors.
    • Keep precise records of all sponsored activities.
    • Where available, coordinate, in tandem, with the various SCRID Regional Representatives to approve the SCRID region’s workshops
    • Submit a monthly report
    • Submit an annual report for the annual membership meeting
    • Attend 75% of all board meetings
    • Manage the CMP budget

    SCRID Trilingual interpreters is a committee of the Southern California registry of interpreters for the deaf. We are concerned with the unique issues related to interpreting between English, American sign language, and a third spoken language. The purpose of this group is to share resources on local, regional, and national levels, provide access to information, and give support and encouragement to one another.

    TRILINGUAL INTERPRETERS COMMITTEE REPRESENTATIVE JOB DESCRIPTION

    Reports To: SCRID Executive Board
    Status: Volunteer

    POSITION PURPOSE
    To be a liaison between SCRID and the various entities and agencies in the area with interest in trilingual interpreting.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain database of trilingual interpreting (ASL, English, & Spanish) resources
    • Provide SCRID with updates on recent trends, events, decisions and occurrences regarding trilingual interpreting
    • Provide outside entities focused on trilingual interpreting information regarding SCRID
    • Represent SCRID at trilingual events
    • Communicate issues of concern to the SCRID Board
    • Advertise all SCRID workshops to entities and agencies focused on trilingual interpreting

    To be the “face” of SCRID’s various regions by soliciting new members and answering to the needs of the assigned region.
