This workshop offers .5 CEUs and will seek to instruct ASL interpreters in the methods of interpreting for Deaf-Blind consumers. Participants will be exposed to the range of sight loss coupled with hearing loss, how to approach a Deaf-Blind consumer, shown specialized techniques specific to the needs of the Deaf-Blind consumer, increase the participant’s knowledge and interpreter skills, by illustrating hand over hand techniques, how to know when a Deaf-Blind consumer is leading you and how to follow their lead. What about the dog? A list of other necessary terms specific to the Deaf-Blind communication world, for example Visual Frame, Close Vision, Short, Tracking and Tactile Signing.
