El Camino College trilingual training program.

We have received several emails from a number of community members and trilingual interpreters asking the SCRID Trilingual Committee to make an inquiry into the development of a possible trilingual program at El Camino College. The main concern within the community is that no stakeholders have been involved in the planning process.

This lead to an email exchange with Sandy Bartiromo who assured us that they are covered with experts and that a program may be up and running within one year’s time.

Gilberto and I met with the administrator and advisory committee member Dipte Patel who said this would take years and will be nowhere near complete within one year. The next step is in fact to conduct a survey and they will seek input from stakeholders such as working trilingual interpreters, Deaf Latinos, and other consumers of this service.
