PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE CHAIR JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports To: SCRID Executive Board
Status: Volunteer
POSITION PURPOSE
Supervise all aspects of professional development events, workshops and functions hosted by SCRID.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, prepare and coordinate at least 4 professional development events per fiscal year
- Recruit and coordinate a committee to assist in hosting events
- Maintain constructive relationships with professional partners in the community
- Prepare and maintain paper work required by RID, SCRID and other organizations
- Work within the budget provided by the SCRID board
- Check SCRID email a minimum of once per week
- Submit a monthly report which includes budget usage updates
- Submit an annual report for the annual membership meeting
- Attend 75% of all board meetings
- Manage the PDC budget
TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, ABILITIES
- Interpreting experience preferred; graduate of an ITP/IPP;
- SCRID member in good standing;
- Experience event planning;
- Strong organization and administration skills;
- Good written, verbal & ASL/PSE communication skills;
- Sensitive to member’s needs;
- Public speaking skills.
ABILITY TO
- Interface in a mutually cooperative way with SCRID members, Board and volunteers;
- Work within the requirements outlined by RID and SCRID
- Work as part of a team with others;
- Think “outside-of-the-box”.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Coordinate professional development activities for the membership of SCRID;
- Communicate issues and concerns regarding events to the SCRID board;
- Create and cultivate connections with presenters, host sites and others key to event coordination.
Due to low enrollment SCRID is cancelling the upcoming Skills and Steps for Certified Deaf Interpreting Workshop set to take place on February 6, 2010.
