- What happened to the 3 day event of trilingual workshops? We’ve had some schedule conflicts. It’s hard to get everyone on the same page. Additionally, in speaking with El Camino College, they would like to host a series of trilingual workshops. We’d like to work with them so as not to duplicate efforts. At this moment, we are on hold for more information from ECC (see #4)
- Gilberto and Arlene are to meet with Daryl Crouse regarding the website and offering option for Spanish. We have not committed to a date (sorry Daryl, please forgive me) but will be in communication with Daryl soon (I promise).
- Two trilingual committee members/supporters Joseph Calderon and Maria Coronado offered their volunteer efforts for the DeaFestival last Month, Sept 26. They were there to offer information on the committee and current resources available. They have expressed interest in being available for such work in the future.
- We have continued communication with the administrator at El Camino College regarding their efforts to develop trilingual training. As you may be aware, this has become a hot issue. The trilingual community, including working interpreters and Deaf Latinos, has been following the developments. When last we spoke to Dipte Patel, the administrator, we were assured that input from stakeholders would be sought. However, just recently I received a rough draft of a class designed for the program. The email exchange is available to anyone who would like to request it.
If you need a refresher, please see July report.
