Coronavirus Vaccine Information
Please see the following files for information on California's COVID-19 vaccination schedule and procedures for in-person interpreters to receive this vaccination. These resources have been created through joint effort of your California RID Affiliate Chapters, to assist interpreters across the state with locating accurate information for those wishing to obtain the COVID-19 vaccination.
Please note, this vaccination is optional. It is currently available to in-person patient interpreters under Phase 1a of the vaccination schedule. This phase is currently open state-wide. As phases progress, the vaccine will become available to in-person interpreters working in other sectors as well. See the attached instructions and schedule for further information.
Please also remember, following COVID vaccination, it is still critical to follow all safety guidelines, such as masking, social distancing, and hand hygiene. Research indicates that the first dose of vaccine provides approximately 50% immunity from this virus; the second dose provides approximately 95% immunity. It remains critical to follow all health guidelines and safety precautions, regardless of vaccination status.
Be well and stay safe everyone! Thank you for your dedication to providing interpreting to our Deaf communities.
