Chiropractors, Acupuncturists, Massage Therapists...Oh My! Learn how to prevent needing these specialists when it’s too late. Most of us see these “miracle workers” once we are in too much pain. Very few of us use them as a maintenance plan. Learn how to use everyday items to keep you from feeling the “OUCH”(and there will be specialty items mentioned too). You will be taught simple but effective techniques on how to keep your body from experiencing the hurt. Come prehab with us! Wear comfortable clothing for this workshop.

About the Presenters

KIM JONES: Kimberly Jones began a career in the fitness industry as a personal trainer in 2002. She began shifting her emphasis of training towards athletes in 2004 while she was teaching Health/ PE and coaching Varsity basketball at her high school alma mater. In the summer of 2008 Kim moved on to strength and conditioning within intercollegiate athletics. She has worked at UCLA, Cal State University Northridge, and the United States Tennis Association. Kim is currently the strength and conditioning coach at El Camino College and provides periodized pre-season, in season and off season training programs for 17 intercollegiate sports teams. Her goal is to enhance athlete performance and decrease the chance of injury within her athletes’ respective sports. Coach Kimberly Jones also conducts professional development seminars on injury prevention in the work place. Coach Jones teaches various techniques which decrease injuries from overuse and repetitive motions. Her emphasis is on optimal movement, muscular balance and core stability. Her techniques show employees how to perform tasks at work and participate in fun recreational activities while minimizing negative stress placed on the body.

BOBBI BARNFATHER: RID CI/CT holds a BA in American Sign Language/English Interpretation from Northwestern University. Ms. Barnfather has over 20 years working in the D/deaf community and over 15 as a professional interpreter. She comes to us from New York City where she has worked freelance, K-12 Educational, Post-Secondary Education, Video Relay interpreting and, as a coordinator of Long Island and New York City RID.
Mrs. Barnfather has had a passion for interpreter health and recovery since the beginning of her career. She sustained injuries to her hands, shoulders and other areas from a car accident while in college. That incident put her education and career on hold. She became determined to find non-surgical ways to heal injury, prevent injury and help those of us with physical jobs to maintain healthy careers.  She spent years looking for a collaborator that shared her vision for health and wellness and understood the complications that interpreters could face, the injuries they could encounter and how to counterbalance them.  Mrs. Barnfather and Ms. Jones began collaborating in 2016 to present Prehab, Don't Rehab.
