2107 LAUSD Interpreter Professional Development Day.  This event is only for LAUSD Sign Language interpreters.

It is imperative that LAUSD Interpreters are prepared to accommodate Deaf and Hard-of-hearing students at their school sites for student need and class curriculum. Materials reviewed and discussed today are published articles by Mindy Hopper and Sharon Baker, EdD regarding Incidental Learning and the effect of the fingerspelling on student reading skills. From the observations described in these articles, interpreters will discuss their experiences working with students and discuss options for providing the highest level of access to education possible within the context of their specific students and learning environments.

A ROUND TABLE discussion is planned to share resources and provide support for our LAUSD interpreter colleagues.

We will also be discussing district employment policies. Bring your BURNING questions!
