Event Description:
Discussions about how the new Covid-19 landscape has changed our approach to deciding when we go interpret in person, or resort to safer video and internet options.
Participants will:

Develop understanding of what it will require medical interpreters to do the essential functions of their interpreting in this new time of Covid-19 and beyond.

Learn about PPE and what it will take to protect ourselves while we are interpreting.

Learn 3-5 other communicable diseases and how they all differ in our PPE.

Learn 3-5 new vocabulary terms that one will be asked to interpret in medical settings post Covid-19.
About the Presenter:

Janet Maxwell, CI, CT, NAD V. Certified since 1990. Proud CODA since 1968. I've been in the field of Interpreting since attending Interpreter program at Western Oregon State (now University ), for the last 34 years. Medical Interpreting focus most of my career. Now. newly hired at UCLA Medical from Stanford Health Care for the last 6 years. Offered several Medical Interpreting workshops at National & International conferences. Proud newest member of SCRID.

SCRID Cancellation Policy:
In the event that SCRID cancels an event, refunds or transfers to future SCRID events are possible. Pre-registrants will be notified immediately upon cancellation.
Refunds: for individual registration cancellations may be requested if SCRID receives notification of said cancellation 3 days prior to the event. Registrations are non-refundable for late cancellations after this date without verification of serious circumstances to be determined by the SCRID board on a case-by-case basis. Email treasurer@scrid.org to request refunds stating the event name, event date and justification for late cancellation. All requests for refunds for late cancellations must be approved by the SCRID board.
